I live in this. Perpetually, I think.
Cognitive dissonance – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cognitive dissonance is a psychological term describing the uncomfortable tension that may result from having two conflicting thoughts at the same time, or from engaging in behavior that conflicts with one’s beliefs.

It’s also a highly effective persuasion method
Inducing cognitive dissonance is like opening a portal to even the most stubborn belief system.
It’s used every day by political candidates. “You love freedom, right? Well Candidate B would take away your freedom! Why would you vote for someone who would take away your freedom!??”
Of course, this implies a rational actor, which is pretty ridiculous. Most Democrats, if they were to actually consult the issues, would find their beliefs aligned with Dennis Kucinich rather than Obama, Clinton, etc.
You are so right. Also — your card and CD were big hits here at Casa Montana. Thanks again, man.
Back to cognitive dissonance … persuasion method, hmmm … gonna have to think about that and get back to you.
Glad to hear it!
