Taking the prime-time field with a concept that is both mean-spirited and demeaning, “The Moment of Truth” is a relentlessly hyped series pandering to the ugliest and weakest aspects of human nature. Well, of course it is. Tell Fox executives that there’s nothing socially redeeming about such programs, and they’ll readily agree with you. There response boils down to this: “It ain’t art or smart, but it’s smart business.”
